A brightened commute

I wSignwriters Melbourneas on my way to work this morning and I saw the funniest banners I’ve seen in a long time. It was huge and hung right over the freeway and I’d love to repeat it here but I have to say, it wasn’t exactly PG rated. I swear, if I’d been drinking something, it would have been a complete spit-take moment, it was just so out of the blue and unexpected. It haven’t seen any banners in Melbourne that have been anything like that before. I mean, yeah sure, as a meme on the internet, but never in real life.

To satisfy a bit of your curiosity, let me just say that it was a joke, revolving around some wizards, a salamander, and a Tibetan monk. And it was hilarious.

It was just one of those moments where you can’t help but shamelessly laugh out loud, on the train no less, surrounded by dozens of commuters who’ve presumably just shared a similar experience. I made you wonder how on earth signwriters, in Melbourne of all places, come up with witty and clever things like that. I know I couldn’t come up with anything that creative even if my life depended on it. But then again I guess I’ve never really been clever in that sort of way, so no one would expect me to. As a signwriter, you would have to have a real gift of phrasing and making something elegant and eye catching. For something so seemingly easy, it would actually be really hard.

Anyway, I spent the rest of the way to work with a grin on my face. Seeing that sign was just an awesome little kick start to the day and brightened my whole mood, so I thought I’d share it (in a bit of code, I’ll grant you that) with the rest of the world. Thanks to the sign, it was a pretty great day, worthy of the 9/10 I’m going to give it.
